Time for true fact and be grateful

Child benefit cut has became the hottest topic now in UK while not long ago UK has just been voted as the worst country to live in compared to the other Europe countries by Daily Mail. I wonder UK is really that bad compared to the rest of the world.

Thinking it all over, there is nothing called child benefit or unemployed benefit in my country. We get some deductions from tax for children and that's all. UK is the worst country to live in because British has to work 37 hours a week and only have 25 days of annual leave a year. I found this unbelievable, totally unbelievable. We work 10 hours a day usually, the working hours should be worse for countries like Japan, Hong Kong, China and many other ASIA countries. Lately, some employees from Foxconn, Hong Kong committed suicide because of the work hours and stress. There is no Union to defend them. I used to have 14 days of annual leave and when I get 25 days of annual leave here, I just couldn't stop smiling.

I agree that the tax is a bit high in UK and certain things are expensive. However, there are so many types of benefits here like unemployment benefits, child benefits, and health care. In my country, we earn money with time and effort, we pay for everything and there is no minimum wage. Therefore, be grateful British. UK is not that bad after all except I do hope to have more sunshine here. Cheers~~~

Doggy.....

I am not a dog person. Honestly, I am quite scared of dog but I think I might fall in love with this dog that I saw at the park. I think it is a female dog. She is white with some brown spot over her head and neck. She is so active and happy. When she met another dog, she used her nose to touch or smell another dog's nose. They are so lovely. They are greeting each other just like we kiss each other's cheek when we meet. She stopped and played with almost every dog that she saw. You know what, she has actually made me run for another 300 meters. I really hope to see her again.

Inception

Have you watch Inception? I watched it last night. The story is a bit confused or may be it is just me. I think we never understand why we have dreams when we sleep. What is the purpose of those dreams? Where do they come from? Why we can only remember a little bit of our dream? 1 of my friend said we shouldn't try to remember our dreams as it will reduce our memory space. It sounds like the memory card in a computer. It is so strange that only God knows what is happening since He is the creator.

Leonardo's wife killed herself in the movie as she became confused of reality and dream. She thought that dream is reality and reality is dream. People wake up in reality when they died in their dream. Hence she killed herself. At times, when we are suffering we hope that it is just a bad dream which everything is fine when we wake up. At times, we rather to stay asleep as the pain are just too much to bear. That's when people choose to end their life.

I don't believe that we are dreaming. We are definitely in a real world. Though it is an imperfect world and we are imperfect human but we are all here for a reason. I think sometimes we focus too much on ourselves and our own problem that we lose sight of what is happening to rest of the world. I believe that everything happen for a reason. I believe God wants us to use our experience to help others to overcome their problems. I believe Love can change everything and God is Love. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Be grateful of what we have and be joyful everyday.

A Gift To My Children

A Gift to My Children is a book written by Jim Rogers to his daughters, Happy and Baby Bee. Jim Rogers co-founded the Quantum Fund before he turned thirty and retired at age thirty-seven. He is now the bestselling author of A Bull in China, Hot Commodities and Adventure Capitalist.

It is more like a guide book that consist of different life stories to Happy and Baby Bee when they grow up. It is nice to have such lovely father. The 1st topic of the book is my favourite as it talks about swim your own races. Jim Rogers is talking about investing in shares here. He said that we should not invest in a company's share because everyone else is buying it. We need to do our own research and make the decision ourselves. We tend to follow the crowd in whatever we do. We want to become doctor because our parents are doctor. We want to become lawyer because people said we can earn a lot of money for being a lawyer. We afraid of being rejected if we don't follow the crowd. My friend told me that it is every girl's dream to have a LV bag. I think that could be the reason the company is still making so much profit even during recession. I think it is time to change.

Another thing that he said is focus on what you like. I always think we need to do what we like or like what we do. I think it is important to be passionate about something in life. I think it is easier for a person to be successful in life if he or she is passionate about what he or she is doing. I am still looking for one myself but I hope that you have found yours.

He also talked a little bit of his experience for travelling around the world with bike. He said that we should not just listen to other's comment about a place; instead we need to go to that place and see it ourselves. I totally agreed with what he said. A place may not be as good or bad as others said when you see it yourself. Chinese proverb said " 读万卷书,不如行万里路".

I am just sharing a few topics here. There are many things more to learn from the book. I hope that you will appreciate the book as much as I do.

Scandal, whose fault?

Mark Hurd just resigned (may be forced to resign) from the position of CEO and Chairman of Hewlett-Packard for using company's money to cover the relationship he had with a former marketing contract lady. I am not sure this could be the greatest scandal for year 2010 but Tiger Wood was on the top list for year 2009. He lost most of his sponsorships in a week. Then it reminds me of the scandal of Bill Clinton with Lewinsky in 1998. It eventually led to the impeachment of President Clinton by the U.S. House of Representatives and his subsequent acquittal on all impeachment charges (of perjury and obstruction of justice) in a 21-day Senate trial.

Sometimes I wondered whose fault is this. Mark Hurd, Tiger Woods and Bill Clinton have spent years of their life to be successful in their career and then they destroy it for a girl or girls. If you have watched Troy, the war started because of a beautiful lady and if I have not mistaken, in the history of China, there were at least twice the war started because of a girl. That is why Chinese used to say, " 红颜祸水". However, I thought it is more likely because of guys don't think using their brain at times.

I wish they would think twice in future before putting themselves, the company, the family and even the country into shame.

21st century woman...harder than before...

Once upon a time, Chinese used to say " 要捉住男人的心先要捉住他的胃" which means if you want a guy to be attracted to you, you must be a good cook. One of my friend said, this is not applicable anymore.

I don't know whether the theory is still applicable now. I guess things could be more complicated now. During the old time, most woman is not educated. Woman is expected to be housewife and to give birth. Some have to work to support the family, hard work. I am talking about Chinese family here. Most Chinese used to have many children and it could be a dozen sometimes. Some women still give birth at age of 45. Many of them are good cook.

Now, most of us are educated and have good jobs (excluding those have no chance to study). When we are young, parents expect to study hard and be the best in school. Some parents even expect the daughter to learn piano, ballet, drawing and etc. Then, boys expect you to be smart, funny, sexy, slim and pretty. I am talking about boys in general. Most of us are afraid to put on weight. We want to be fashionable; we want to look good, we spend lots of money on clothes, bags and shoes. Guys said to their girlfriends or wives, "I don't mind what you wear; you are always beautiful in my eyes." Don't believe it 100%, it could because you are using his money. We are still expected to have baby after married, take care of house chores, cook and continue to work, be slim, pretty and sexy.

Sometimes I wonder how could we live up to so many people's expectation? However, many of us have made it, many of us is a good student, worker, wife and mother. Cheers....

Pregnant, pregnant, pregnant.....

Should I really get pregnant now? That is the question that I have in my mind after talking to my friend yesterday. Many of my friends have encouraged me to get pregnant as soon as possible after married. Mainly is because of my age and since I am not working now so might as well get pregnant.

Based on an article written by Dr. Mary Kittel, women has 6 reproductive stages which are at the age of 20, 20-38, 38-42, 42-46, 46-50 and 50+. Because I am at the age group between 20-38 so I wish to share more on it. If you are from different age group and wish to know more about yourselve, you may consider reading the book "Stay Fertile Longer". I am at middle reproductive stage. The first 7 years of middle reproductive stage is the peak fertility time, then the 1st slight fertility decline happens in the next 3 years and followed by 2nd fertility decline around age 35. Therefore, I think I am experiencing the 1st slight decline in feritiliy now without realising it.

I am not sure whether I should be panic because of the decline of fertility. However, I think getting pregnant is not because everyone else at my age is getting pregnant and having a baby or because others think that I should get pregnant. I believe that baby is the most wonderful gift from God so I think we should really take it seriously. I think we need to be ready to get pregnant for pregnancy is never easy. I think we need to be even more ready for taking care of a baby as it is thousand times tougher than pregnancy. Raising a child, love them, educate them and spending precious time with them is a life long responsibility and it is me and my beloved husband's responsibility but not others.

Nevertheless, this is just my personal opinion. God always has His timing for everything.
